The Cowper and Newton Museum
Special lace exhibition, Aug/Oct 2002

The exhibition was an oppportunity to see the Honiton and Brussels lace recently donated to the Museum by Mr Peter Bucknell of Clifton Longville. The lace originally belonged to his great grandmother, Alice Oakshott (1836 - 1913). Her daughter made an inventory of the lace in 1913.

The exhibition was mounted in time for the visit in August of 400 delegates from all over the world attending the International Congress of Lace Makers organised by the OIDFA, at Nottingham. These visitors enjoyed not only the special exhibition but the Museum's permanently displayed collection of lace making history and artefacts.
