This picturesque building in Stony Stratford High Street dates back to 1609 and is one of the oldest surviving inns in the town, having been a permanent fixture for almost four centuries.

Slightly more visible here is the opening at the far end of the hotel which led into George Yard - a lane which gave access both to the rear of the hotel and to the south east side of the market square, where it met White Horse Yard - a similar arrangement alongside the White Horse Inn whose sign arm is just visible on the right of the picture.
