9. The Chancel Arch

The present chancel is of the 13th century. In 1872 the new chancel arch was inserted. Two decorated 12th century shafts have been incorporated into either side of the present 19th century chancel arch. The roof was restored in 1957.

North shaft - Twelfth century. Cylindrical and decorated with small lozenges within large lozenges and drilled beading. It's capital and base are nineteenth century.

South shaft - Twelfth century. Octagonal and decorated with beaded chevrons or zigzags. The capital is nineteenth century, but the base is original.
