17 Buckingham Canal Society Walk

Thornborough on A421 MK to Buckingham

Circular walk approx 5 miles. Past river, old mill house, reservoir, nature reserve, lock restoration, mill, Roman burial mounds. Bring appropriate footwear and clothing to suit conditions. Not suitable for people with disability or buggies. Under 16's must be accompanied.

Willen Lake is the terminus for Heritage Cycle Trails A, B & C and offers a range of watersports, land-based activities and High Ropes Adventure Course. Try out Katakanus (holds up to 6 people) and Pedalos (holds up to 5 people) for free.

Grade II* listed Jacobean building constructed in 1145 as a Cluniac nunnery, converted after the Dissolution into a comfortable family house in a parkland setting. Financial assistance by English Partnerships.
The house is not normally open to the public.

Tours at half hourly intervals starting at 10.00am., last tour at 14.30pm. Max. 20 people per tour.

Lying to the North West of Milton Keynes is the Georgian St Mary Church in Great Houghton, open to visitors.

Great Houghton lies on the A428 between Olney and Northampton.

35 Stevington Windmill

The only complete windmill in Beds. Built in 1770 around a central post it can be turned into the wind. Rebuilt 1921 and further restored in 1951.

The historic importance of Blue Bridge and the archaeological sites of Bancroft Park will be outlined before walking the path that follows the old railway line between Wolverton and Stony Stratford. At the mill, its history & future will be discussed.

CMuseum located in historic Chandos Hall. It houses historical items concerning Newport Pagnell & special exhibitions on aspects of town history. 46 Make a Difference Exhibition

This exhibition has been created by young "MaD" volunteers. With skills teaching from Phazeone Photography, they identified places they felt displayed heritage in MK - so this is a view of hidden gems through the eyes of young people.
