Stoke Goldington Millennium Wall Hanging

The Wall Hanging - Background

The Millennium Wall Hanging represents the village of Stoke Goldington at the year 2000. It was completed and unveiled in May 2002 by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Pat Seymour. The finished Wall Hanging is just over 3.5 metres wide.

The Wall Hanging was undertaken by the villagers of Stoke Goldington with a grant from the Community Awards for All to cover the cost of materials for £3,296 . This was augmented by a grant of £100 from Stoke Goldington Parish Council. The costs had been calculated from an initial draft design. All the costings are with the archives of the Stoke Goldington Association.

The project committee received the grant in September 2000 and started detailed planning straight away. Our designer, Kay Thompson, developed the full plan together with colour palette of wools to be used throughout the main area.

The only stipulation we made for those who wanted to join in the project was that they must live in the village of Stoke Goldington.
