Sherington, a small parish and village, on the road from Newport Pagnell to Olney; from the latter it is 3 miles and the former 2 miles, 10 from Bedford, and 6 from Wolverton station, on the Birmingham and London railway line. The church, seated on an eminence, is gothic, with square tower, and small spire, in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln, and incumbency of the Rev. John Charles Williams, M.A., rector, archdeaconry of Buckingham and diocese of Oxford, value £400 per annum. There are several owners of the manor. The Mercer's Company of the city of London, have property here. A small school has been recently erected here by the rector, and a reading society for the working classes is held in the village under his superintendence also. Here are chapels for the Independents and Wesleyans. Acres about 1,700; population, 856.
